Solution 1:

9 (Green Eyes) + 11 (Brunettes) + 3 (neither) – 6 (Green-eyed Brunettes) = 17

Solution 2:

9 – 6 = 3 (Green Eyes but not Brunette)
11 – 6 = 5 (Brunette but not Green Eyes)
3 (neither)
6 (Green-eyed Brunettes)
3 + 5 + 3 + 6 = 17
